Are you looking for the best way to plan your revision sessions? Scheduling, the Pomodoro method, scribzee… here are our top tips to help you find your way around! Let’s get started! 🚀

Create a revision schedule

The first thing to think about if you want to set up revision sessions: plan ahead! So, to do this, get yourself a nice planner that you can display on your desk. A weekly planner is an interesting format that lets you see your week’s tasks at a glance. 👀

Beware, we sometimes tend to want to put in as much revision time as possible and end up doing very little. To avoid this, create achievable revision sessions for yourself and don’t forget to include time for other things! Remember to leave yourself time to go to your basketball match, spend the afternoon with your friends or even curl up in bed watching a TV show! The important thing is to maintain a balance that will keep you motivated throughout the week.

To keep as much rhythm as possible in your revision, don’t hesitate to divide it up into sub-tasks and determine the duration of these tasks. This will also help you keep track of your progress. If you take longer than planned for a task, don’t worry, it’s not so bad! You can simply schedule another time slot to finish it.

💡To make sure you don’t miss any of your homework, remember to make a note of it in your diary. Even if you have a great memory, you might forget something at some point, which is why scribzee lets you set up reminders. 🚨

Use the Pomodoro method

You may already have heard of it: the Pomodoro method is a highly effective time management technique!

Pomodoro means tomato in Italian. This technique was developed at the end of the 1980s by Francesco Cirillo, a student who decided to focus on his revision by concentrating for 10 minutes. All he needed to time himself was a kitchen timer in the shape of a tomato, which is where this method got its name from! 🍅

We’ll explain the concept to you : it’s all about dividing your working time into slots: 25 minutes of work and 5-minute breaks! To avoid spreading yourself too thin, you need to devote one session to one task!

For example, you could devote one session to rereading your revision notes, one to reciting them and one to revising with your flashcards. Of course, you can adapt your sessions according to your preferences and what works best for you.

⏲️ During your 5-minute breaks, you can check your phone, have a snack or stretch your legs !
Many advantages
This method has many advantages. We’ve listed them for you here:
– it’s easier for you to get on with your work;
– you avoid distractions
– you’re more productive;
– you memorise better;
– you concentrate better.

So, are you convinced? 😉

Track your progress on scribzee

How could we write an article about planning your revision without telling you about scribzee! This app is a tool that could well come in handy during your studies!

On the app, you can scan all your lessons and revision sheets and sort them according to your organisation. Every time you’ve worked on a note or sheet, you can change the status to remind yourself where you stand. What’s more, you can personalise the progress statuses!

For example:
🫥 not set
🚨 to do
🪫 almost there
🎉 got it!

You can use these progress statuses to plan your revision sessions. Here’s how it works: if you have an assessment due in three weeks’ time, you can plan to revise all your revision notes on the subject in the first week (🚨 to do), then revise them in the second week (🪫 almost there) and finally memorise them in the third week (🎉 got it)!
A revision system based on the Leitner method
The scribzee app’s revision mode is based on the Leitner method. This is a technique that puts the principle of spaced repetition into practice to make it easier to learn new information!

👉 Imagine five boxes numbered 1 to 5. Initially, all your flashcards are placed in box number 1. Each time you answer a card correctly, it is moved to box number 2, and so on, until it reaches the fifth box. The cards you don’t answer correctly remain in box number 1. If one day you come across a card in box number 4 and you don’t manage to answer it correctly, you’ll have to downgrade and put it back in the previous box.

This mode allows you to focus your revision on your difficulties until you ‘ve learned all your flashcards by heart.

Use the quiz mode on scribzee

Another scribzee feature that can be very useful is the quiz mode. Once you’ve memorised all your flashcards, you can test yourself in a fun way. Aim for a score of 100% to make sure you’re ready for your exam!

Flashcards are a practical tool for memorising lessons. The principle is simple: you write a question on the front and the answer on the back.

Added extra: Scribzee identifies the colour of the frame and automatically sorts the flashcards into coloured folders. Ideal for organising your flashcards on your smartphone without wasting time!

Now it’s time for us to say goodbye! We hope we’ve taught you some new tricks to help you with your revision, see you soon. 👋
